Presentations

Below is a listing of some of my presentations. In addition, I would be happy to customize a program on women spies (from the Revolutionary War to WWII or in general) for your venue or event! Email kitsergeant@gmail.com for more information or to schedule!

“Women Spies in the Civil War”

A fascinating story of the Civil War that never made history books! Learn about the nation’s first female detectives, Kate Warne and Hattie Lewis Lawton, and the part they played in saving President Lincoln and the Union. The multimedia presentation also features other courageous women spies, including the former slave Mary Jane Bowser. Presented by Kit Sergeant, author of Underground: Traitors and Spies in the Civil War. (All ages; 60 min; price negotiable with permission to sell books)

In person or Zoom

“Women Spies in World War II”

In 1942, as the free world crumbled beneath Hitler’s jackboot, Churchill’s Secret Army began recruiting women to infiltrate Occupied France. The women spies, who came from all walks of life, agreed to serve in the French Resistance even though they did not know if they would ever see their families again. Learn about the adventures of some of these unimaginably brave women in this multimedia presentation by Kit Sergeant, author of The Spark of Resistance. (All ages; 60 min; price negotiable with permission to sell books)
